Berghain is de eerste single van ROSALÍA’s vierde album LUX, in samenwerking met Björk en Yves Tumor. Het nummer is een orkestraal en emotioneel geladen stuk dat gevoelens van angst, woede, liefde en overgave onderzoekt. Het is een mentale ruimte waarin de muziek als ritueel functioneert.
Berghain is geschreven door ROSALÍA, Björk, Yves Tumor, Sir Dylan, Jake Miller en Noah Goldstein, en geproduceerd door ROSALÍA, Noah Goldstein, Jake Miller en Sir Dylan. Het nummer past binnen het concept van LUX, waar eerder in ons artikel uitgebreid over werd geschreven: Rosalía – LUX. Berghain laat zien hoe ROSALÍA overstapt van minimalistische productie naar een maximalistisch, orkestrale benadering, met thema’s als innerlijke strijd, identiteit en mentale labyrinten.
Rosalia: “I think that maybe it’s a piece representative of the orchestral intention throughout the album … I feel like it has it all. It has the full orchestra. It has the full choir … This is maximalism … we all kind of have these labyrinths in our heads, these forest of thoughts that you can get lost in … it’s your mind. It’s everybody’s mind.”
